This limits the game to 1 core which solves most of the crashes, and enables a custom resolution, which I have set to my monitor's default (the x32 is the color depth, just set it at that unless you want the game to look like a low-grade bitmap image).Įdit: I'm loving the downvoting of legitimate comments now that this hit r/all. "C:\Program Files (x86)\Maxis\SimCity 4\Apps\SimCity 4.exe" -CPUcount:1 -CustomResolution:enabled -r1680x1050x32 Ive lost weeks playing this game, and Im not. Here are the settings I use for "Target" for the SC4 shortcut, yours might be different and if it is on steam (I have the original game disc+expansion), just add everything after the quotes to the target properties for SC4 deluxe. It runs well on my Windows 7 Computer without large mods like RAM, but I do run simPEG without a problem. Some versions also do not allow widescreen by default, and some crash constantly if set to hardware graphics rendering, or software graphics rendering (I've found software to be the most stable though, YMMV). So I have The sims 4 installed on my game drive (G:) and I go from This Pc> Newvolume (G:)> Program files(x86)> Origin Games> The Sims 4>, where do Press J to jump to the feed. A NOTE ON SOME VERSIONS OF THE GAME It does not play well with windows' multicore handling. :)Ī lot of mods add to the experience though, and the custom regions the fanbase has come up with are awesome. If you can’t see The Sims 4, you can scan for it or define it manually. Use the Manage button on the game tile to add it to your managed games. If you don’t already see The Sims 4 under the Managed tab, check the Discovered section. Note that even without mods the game still holds up, for those of you not sure what you're getting into. To begin, open up Vortex and navigate to the games section.
